In a jolt for the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, BJP leader Brijendra Singh resigned from the primary membership of the party on Sunday. Taking to social media platform X the BJP MP said, "I have resigned from the primary membership of BJP, due to compelling political reasons..."
"I extend gratitude to the party, National President Sh. JP Nadda, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, & Sh Amit Shah for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Member of Parliament for Hisar," he added.
Soon after quitting the saffron party, Singh reached at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi.
The son of former Union minister Birender Singh, Brijendra was a member of the Public Accounts Committee (India) and Standing Committee on Defence (India).
He is a former Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1998 batch. He had secures 9th rank in the Civil Services Exam. After serving in the services for 21 years, he took voluntary retirement, as per a Hindustan Times report.
