The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday appointed poll incharges and co-incharges for three states ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Party president JP Nadda appointed these incharges and co-incharges for Rajasthan, Haryana, and Andhra Pradesh.
Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vijaya Rahatkar, and Pravesh Verma have been given the responsibility for Rajasthan while Satish Punia and Surendra Singh Nagar have been appointed as incharge and co-incharge for Haryana.
For Andhra Pradesh, Arun Singh and Siddharth Nath Singh have been appointed as election incharge and co-incharge for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The party has so far released two lists of 258 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest for the third time from the Varanasi Parliamentary constituency while Amit Shah has been fielded from Gandhinagar. In the first list, the party has included 34 Union ministers such as Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani among 195 candidates.
Other notable names on the list are former chief ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Biplab Deb, as well as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
While Chouhan has been given a ticket from Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha, Deb will contest from the Tripura West seat. Union ministers like Mansukh Mandaviya, Jitendra Singh, Sarbananda Sonowal, and others have also been given a ticket by the party.
The Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be held in seven phases starting from April 19 and will continue till June 1.
In the first phase, 102 Parliamentary constituencies across 21 states will undergo the polls including Arunachal Pradesh (2), Assam (5), Bihar (4), Chhattisgarh (1), Madhya Pradesh (6), Maharashtra (5), Manipur (2), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Rajasthan (12), Sikkim (1), Tamil Nadu (39), Tripura (1), Uttar Pradesh (8), Uttarakhand (5), West Bengal (3), and Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Jammu and Kashmir (1), Lakshadweep (1), and Puducherry (1).
