Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Asserting that BJP will win the impending Lok Sabha elections with majority in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today said he is confident that his party will clinch more than 74 seats in the country's largest state. While speaking at ABP News' flagship summit Shikhar Sammelan, the CM said, "The works that had not been done in the country even after 68 years of independence, Modi govt has done that amount of work in the past five years. We are confident of winning a huge majority on the basis of the developmental work we have done". "We are moving on with a goal of 74 plus seats. This time we will win Gorakhpur, Kairana, Amethi and Azamgarh as well," he added.

Targeting the previous governments in the state, Yogi Adityanath said the problems of corruption, law disorder were widely prevalent during the earlier regimes. He further said, under PM Modi’s leadership, 'India has turned into a lion, not a bird'. "In 2014, India was 11th largest economy in the world, today it is the 6th. In the next 5 years it will race up to be in the top 3," Yogi said.

In his view regarding the Ram Mandir construction, UP CM said, "Ram Mandir was never an electoral agenda for us. Public sentiment must be respected in Ayodhya. We had initiated talks earlier too, but the Muslim side always asked for evidence."

While asserting that Priyanka Gandhi's entry into politics will make no difference to the BJP's prospects in the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath said Congress's in-charge in eastern Uttar Pradesh has campaigned for her party previously too and it will make no difference to the BJP. "Priyanka Gandhi has campaigned for Congress previously too. Uttar Pradesh Congress is nowhere in the scene," Yogi said during the summit.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi will take a boat ride on a 140-kilometre stretch of the Ganga river between the Prayagraj and Mirzapur districts on Monday, where she will meet the communities living by the river and seek support for the party for the Lok Sabha polls. UP CM also took a dig at Priyanka Gandhi’s Ganga Yatra saying, "Ganga river has been cleaned, Priyanka is most welcome. Akhilesh and Mayawati are also welcome for their Ganga Yatra."
