After the NDA ruling alliance failed to repeat its 2019 success in Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) (NCPSP) leader Sharad Pawar credited the victory of the opposition INDIA bloc to the public mandate in Maharashtra.
Sharad Pawar, whose party is leading in 7 seats in Maharashtra, said that Maharashtra has led the Lok Sabha Election results in the direction of change. He said that the BJP made a political atmosphere around Ayodhya Ram Mandir but people have given their mandate on the issue.
The NCPSP supremo said that he would participate in the opposition meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday.
"Although all the results of Lok Sabha elections are not yet in hand, but it is clear that Maharashtra has taken the results in the direction of change. Indian National Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) collectively presented their role to the public in the opposition alliance in Maharashtra," Pawar said.
"The alliance played a major role in carrying forward the progressive thought of Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar and protecting democratic values while keeping the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," he added.
As per the latest trends, the BJP is leading in 12 seats in Maharashtra, while the Congress is leading in 11, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackrey) in 10, NCPSP in 7 and Shiv Sena (SHS) in 6.
Sharad Pawar's party is likely to win the 7 seats it fought out of 10 seats in Maharashtra. The remaining seats out of the total 48 went to Uddhav's camp and Congress.
"We started Maha Vikas Aghadi and it has received a good response. Together the three parties will contest in the next elections too. I never expected such a result," Pawar said.
Speaking on the speculations of INDIA bloc reaching out to JD(U) and TDP, Pawar said he didn't had any conversation with any political parties, but he is likely to get in touch.
"I haven't talked to Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar. Till now, I have talked only to Congress and no other party," he added.
