Law enforcement agencies have seized about Rs 37 crore in drugs, liquor, unaccounted for cash, and other valubles in Haryana since the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into effect on March 16.
The Election Commission along with other enforcement agencies are continuously keeping a strict vigil on the movement of illicit liquor, drugs, and cash, Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Agarwal said on Tuesday.
Till now, Rs 7.24 crore in cash has been seized. Apart from this, illicit liquor, drugs, and other valuables worth Rs 30.05 crore have also been seized, he said, according to an official statement.
The figure is much higher than the value of items seized in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections of 2014 and 2019, it said.
Among the seizures was 3.87 lakh litres of illicit liquor and narcotics worth Rs 12.55 crore. (PTI Input)

Voicing apprehensions, Congress leader Digvijay Singh told ANI: "We are trying that election to be held impartial. Wherever bogus voting happened, our people opposed it... A machine (EVM) is a machine, I have always been saying that I have objections to EVMs."
"In that machine, you can't see where the vote is going. In the VVPAT machine, there is software, that software decides what will happen, whatever I do, what software wants only that thing will be printed and that will be counted," he added. (ANI Input)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he wants the BJP-led NDA to win 400 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls to ensure the Congress does not bring back Article 370 in Kashmir and put a "Babri lock" on the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Addressing an election rally at Dhar in Madhya Pradesh, Modi also accused the Congress of belittling Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, adding the opposition party has started saying he had a very little role in framing the Constitution.
"The truth is that the Congress parivar deeply hates Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,” Modi said.
The PM said the Congress is spreading rumours that if he gets 400 Lok Sabha seats, he will change the Constitution.
It seems as if the Congress people's intelligence is focussed on their vote bank, he said.
"It is important for the people of the country to know that the BJP-led NDA already has 400-plus seats in Parliament. We used this number to scrap Article 370 (which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir)," the PM said. (PTI Input)
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, industrialist Gautam Adani and spiritual leader Morari Bapu were among prominent personalities who cast their votes in Gujarat in the third phase of the Lok Sabha election on Tuesday and urged the people to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
A post in the governor's 'X' handle said, "Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel exercised her franchise today with her family at Shilaj Primary School, Shilaj, Ahmedabad and appealed to all the voters to vote." Candidates of the BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and leaders from social and corporate sectors, including Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, spiritual guru Morari Bapu, Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil, among others, exercised their franchise during the day.
"This is a mahaparv of democracy, and I would appeal to all the citizens to cast their votes because that is how democracy wins. India is marching ahead and will continue to do so," Adani told media persons after casting his vote at a polling station in Ahmedabad.
In a post on 'X', he said, "Proud to have voted with my family today. Voting is a right, privilege and responsibility we all share as citizens of this great nation. Every vote is a powerful voice in our democracy. Cast your vote for shaping the future of India. Jai Hind." Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Basia, Jharkhand, said, "As soon as we come to power, a list of poor families will be prepared. One woman from each poor family of Adivasis, Dalits and backward classes will be selected. These women will receive financial aid of Rs 1 lakh per year."

NCP-SP candidate from Maharashtra's Baramati, Supriya Sule has alleged that money was distributed in her constituency and banks were open late at night on Monday. "The banks were open till late last night, there are some videos of it in the media. Some money was caught in Bhor (town), in Baramati money was distributed," Sule told PTI.
"It's very unfortunate that in a peaceful Maharashtra of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar, and our most beloved leader YB Chavan... this is the first time we are seeing this kind of bad behaviour, it is very surprising and disappointing," she added.

On Radhika Khera quitting Congress and joining BJP, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said: "This was all scripted, she had a deal with the BJP. This is why she continued with the drama for six days and then joined the BJP. Now, she should tell about her deal with the BJP."
Samajwadi Party candidate from Badaun Lok Sabha seat, Aditya Yadav has alleged that the administration is trying not to let anyone vote in the constituency.

Addressing a poll rally in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: "Congress wants that Baba Saheb should not get the credit for making the Constitution. Congress has started saying that Baba Saheb's contribution in making the Constitution was less, Nehru ji played the biggest role in making the Constitution...They first distorted the history of the country and made people forget the great Sons of Independence. Former Congress National Media Coordinator, Radhika Khera joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at the party headquarters in Delhi today, a day after she alleged misbehaviour by Chhattisgarh Congress leader.
"The manner in which I was misbehaved with on the land of Kaushalya Mata for being a devotee of Ram, for having darshan of Ram Lalla, I would not have been able to reach here if I had not got the protection of the BJP government, the Modi government. Today's Congress is not Mahatma Gandhi's Congress, it is anti-Ram, anti-Hindu Congress...," she said.
A verbal spat took place between CPI(M) candidate Mohammed Salim and TMC workers at a polling booth in the Murshidabad Lok Sabha constituency. "People are made to be threatened and scared. Police officers themselves do it. Even on the day of polling, voters are being stopped and threatened...," said the CPI(M) candidate.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of using police force against SP workers at places where polling is underway in Uttar Pradesh. "The behaviour of the police and the administration is not right. BJP will be wiped out in this phase. Police are beating people in Sambhal and we are getting information from Mainpuri that Samajwadi Party workers, leaders are being locked up," he said.
"The ministers, their associates and family members are roaming freely. Therefore, I want to appeal to people to come out and vote and save democracy. I hope that the Election Commission will take action on it," he added.
A firing incident in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind that took place during the polling was not related to the elections but owed to personal enmity, said Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan.
"Voting percentage of 30.21 was recorded till 11 am in 9 constituencies. It was 27.83 in last 2019 election. A bullet was fired in Bhind but it is not related to election. It was due to personal enmity," he told PTI.
"Voters should keep anonymity. There will be an action. Mobile phones are not allowed inside polling booths. We take action on that," he added.
Industrialist Gautam Adani cast his vote in Ahmedabad along with his family and urged people to go to polls as well.
After casting his vote, Adani took to X and said: "Proud to have voted with my family today. Voting is a right, a privilege and a responsibility we all share as citizens of this great nation. Every vote is a powerful voice in our democracy. Cast your vote for shaping the future of India. Jai Hind."

Narhari Amin says, "...Voting is being held on 25 seats of Gujarat today. One of our candidates has already won from Surat. In 2014 and 2019, we won all 26 seats. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge cast his vote at a polling booth in Karnataka's Kalaburagi. Radhakrishna has been fielded by the grand old party from this seat against BJP's Umesh G Jadhav.
A presiding officer at a polling booth in Bihar's Supaul passed away in the morning, allegedly due to a heart attack, reports ANI. The polling official has been identified as Shailendra Kumar.
"He passed away in the morning...This happened where he was posted. He was rushed to PHC where he was declared dead," said the doctor.
"Body has been brought here to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. His relatives were informed and they too have reached here. Postmortem has been done. It was found that he was diabetic," the doctor added.
The approximate voter turnout was logged at 10.81% at 9 am, in the first two hours of voting across 11 states and Union Territories, as per the data shared by the Election Commission of India.
Speaking on the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, "All the businessmen and the poor people will together make Congress win this time. People are regretting that they made a mistake last time and they will elect Congress party with a huge majority..."

BJP candidate from UP's Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, Jaiveer Singh offered prayers at Sheetal Mata Mandir. He is contesting against sitting Samajwadi Party MP and Akhilesh Yadav's daughter Dimple Yadav.
Allegations have surfaced regarding a bomb blast at the residence of the Congress regional president in Hariharpara for which the party has blamed the TMC.
Congress has alleged that the motive behind the blast was to intimidate voters.
Following the incident, the Hariharpara police promptly responded by reaching the location upon receiving the information.
Voting is underway in West Bengal's Murshidabad under strict surveillance amid allegations of violence and intimidation by the CPI-M.
"This is a large district, large number of polling stations are to be handled. Two full parliamentary constituencies have gone to the poll. There are no large scale complaints," District Magistrate Rajarshi Mitra said.
"Some EVMs were found erroneous at certain polling stations. They were replaced. The poll started on time," the DM said.
Communist Party of India-Marxist has alleged multiple instances of violence and intimidation in West Bengal's Murshidabad where voting is underway for the Lok Sabha elections phase 3.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will be casting his vote today in Ahmedabad, has urged people to cast their vote.
In a social media post on X, Shah said: "In the third phase of the Lok Sabha Election, I appeal to all the voters who are going to cast their votes today to accept voting as a duty towards contributing to nation-building. Once again, vote for a corruption-free, caste-free, and dynasticism-free system. Elect a government that has experience in public welfare and a blueprint for a developed India."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to cast their vote as the third phase of polling began for the Lok Sabha elections on all 92 seats across 11 states and Union Territories.
"Urging all those who are voting in today’s phase to vote in record numbers. Their active participation will certainly make the elections more vibrant," Modi said in a social media post.
He too will be casting his vote in Gujarat's Ahmedabad today.
Polling has begun on all the 92 seats for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections across 11 states and Union Territories. As many as 17.24 crore registered voters are expected to cast their vote today.
Voters have started queueing up at a polling booth in Jangipur in West Bengal's Murshidabad. The polling is scheduled to begin at 7 am.
Union Minister and BJP leader Parshottam Rupala offered prayer at a temple in Gujarat's Amreli ahead of casting his vote for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls. The saffron party has fielded Bharatbhai Manubhai Sutariya from this seat while Jennyben Thummar is the Congress candidate.
Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav will cast his vote in Uttar Pradesh's Saifai today, said the leader. "I will cast my vote at Saifai Primary School, along with my entire family...I appeal to the voters to remove BJP to save the Constitution, protect reservations, for employment and alleviate poverty..," he said.

Shivpal Yadav's son, Aditya Yadav is making an electoral debut from the Budaun Lok Sabha seat, which was represented by his cousin Dharmendra Yadav in 2014.

According to the data released by the EC, voting turnout rises to 25.41 per cent at 11 am. More than 26 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the first four hours of polling for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The state witnessed 26.12 per cent polling till 11 am in the third phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha election.
While Agra witnessed 25.87 per cent polling, Aonla recorded a 25.98-per cent voter turnout, Budaun 26.02 per cent, Bareilly 23.6 per cent, Etah 27.17 per cent, Fatehpur Sikri 27.63 per cent, Firozabad 24.42 per cent, Hathras 26.05 per cent, Mainpuri 25.13 per cent and Sambhal 29.55 per cent, the Election Commission (EC) said.
