NEW DELHI: The stage is set for the 2nd phase for the ongoing Lok Sabha election. For the election which is scheduled on April 18, as many as 95 constituencies will go for polling in the second phase of Lok Sabha election 2019.


Election was scheduled to be held in one seat in Tripura but the Election Commission in a late night order postponed polling till April 23 citing law and order situation. Also, the EC in an order Tuesday evening cancelled the poll in Vellore Lok Sabha constituency over allegations of excess use of money power.

The process of nomination had begun with the issuance of notification by Election Commission on March 19 and continued till March 26. Scrutiny of the nomination papers was held on March 27 and the last day of withdrawing nomination was on March 29.

Polling will be held in 38 seats in Tamil Nadu, 14 seats in Karnataka, 10 in Maharashtra, eight in Uttar Pradesh, five each in Assam, Bihar and Odisha, three each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, two in Jammu and Kashmir and one seat each in Manipur and Puducherry.

After the polling across all the 7 phases ending on May 19, 2019, the votes will be counted on May 23. The first of the seven-phase polls were held on April 11.
