Ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed Congress and stated that the grand old party has become a "slave of appeasement, and vote bank politics," news agency ANI reported. During Karnataka election rally in Tumakuru, PM Modi began his public address by chanting "Bajrang Bali Ki Jai."

"Congress has a problem with chanting 'Jai Bajrang Bali' also," PM Modi stated, PTI reported.

Speaking at public meeting in Tumakuru, PM Modi stated: "Congress is becoming a slave of appeasement, and its vote bank politics. Such Congress can never benefit the people of Karnataka. Such Congress can never develop Karnataka."

PM Modi further stated that BJP will be returning to power in Karnataka with a thumping majority, PTI reported.

Highlighting "PM Kisan Samman Yojana," Modi stated: "The extent of work done for farmers & youth in past 9 years is more than the work done in past 70 years. We have strengthened rural economy as it helps in increasing purchasing power parity. Through PM Kisan Samman Yojana we have transferred Rs 2.5 lakh crores to the accounts of farmers & over Rs 700 crores have been transferred to farmers in Tumakuru."

Men owned properties, enterprises, and stores, but the BJP has made 3 crore women homeowners, according to PM Modi.

"In the last 9 years we have built 4 crore houses for the poor. Out of this, over 3 crore houses were built in rural areas & ownership was awarded to women. We have completed the work of giving property cards in over 75,000 villages across the country," he stated.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi took out a roadshow in Tumakuru. He rode his bullet-proof automobile while standing on the running board shortly after arriving at the helipad. Modi waved to the audience, which was chanting 'Modi-Modi'. The entire road was festooned with BJP flags, festoons, and posters of Modi.

"There was no pre-planned programme, but a mega roadshow was taken out due to the overwhelming crowd," he stated.

Karnataka goes to the elections on May 10, with results scheduled to be announced on May 13.
