Karnataka Elections 2023: In yet another complaint against the Congress party to the Election Commission, the BJP has asked the poll body to derecognise the grand old party over Sonia Gandhi's 'sovereignty' remark in Karnataka's Hubbali on Saturday. A delegation of the BJP met EC in Delhi and complained against the Congress MP for talking about Karnataka's 'sovereignty', adding that she is heading the 'tukde-tukde' gang. Party leader Tarun Chugh said that BJP has moved EC demanding derecognition of Congress for using the 'sovereignty' term for Karnataka and sought an apology from her.
Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav told the media, "She (Sonia Gandhi) deliberately used the word sovereignty. Congress manifesto is the agenda of the 'Tukde-Tukde' gang and hence they are using such words. We hope EC will take action against this anti-national act."
Speaking on the complaint, Union Minister and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje told ANI, "Today we gave a complaint against Sonia Gandhi to Election Commission. She gave a speech in Hubbali in which she talked about the sovereignty of Karnataka. We use sovereignty for the country. She is heading the 'Tukde-Tukde' gang. We demanded that FIR should be registered against her.
Notably, the Congress party had on Saturday tweeted after Sonia Gandhi's rally in Hubbali, "CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji sends a strong message to 6.5 crore Kannadigas: The Congress will not allow anyone to pose a threat to Karnataka's reputation, sovereignty or integrity.
