It is to be noted that Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, a former Gujarat BJP leader, had once vacated his seat for Narendra Modi. He later served as Finance Minister in CM Modi’s cabinet in Gujarat.
It is being speculated that, going by the tradition Vala will invite BJP which is close to emerging as the single largest party, to form government in Karnataka.
However, keeping in mind the instance of Goa elections in which despite emerging as the largest party Congress could not form the government, the Congress leaders tried to approach Governor Vala, who apparently is in no mood to entertain any party before the final result is announced.
As per the trends in the afternoon, BJP are leading in 104 seats, while Congress are reduced 78 and JDS have their noses in front in 38 constituencies. With the magic number being 112, Karnataka is heading for a hung assembly.
