Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold more than 20 rallies leading to the Assembly elections in the state to be held on May 10. The prime minister began campaigning for the polls on April 9. As the parties exert full force in the last month ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls, the state leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party has asked for the maximum number of campaigns from Chief Ministers and Union Ministers, as reported by ANI on Monday.
According to the schedule, PM Modi will regularly visit the poll-bound state between April 9 to May 8. In order to intensify the saffron party’s election campaign in the state, PM Modi will hold more than 20 meetings and road shows. The BJP has divided Karnataka into six regions and PM Modi will spend at least two days in each region. PM Modi will be joined by Union Minister Amit Shah after April 10 to add strength to the party’s campaign.
According to the plan, Shah will spend more than twenty days in Karnataka. BJP party president JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will hold more than 25 rallies. Union Minister Smriti Irani and Assam CM Hemant Biswa Sarma are also scheduled to hold more than 25 rallies. The Karnataka assembly elections are slated to take place on May 10, 2023, with the results being declared on May 13, 2023. All the 224 assembly seats will go to vote in a single phase.
Last week on Saturday, Amit Shah held a meeting at BJP president Nadda's residence in the national capital to discuss and finalise the list of candidates for the May 10 polls. Yediyurappa who participated in Saturday's meeting said, "The first list of candidates for around 170-180 seats will be released by today evening". Senior BJP leaders on Sunday attended the Chief Election Committee meeting for the Karnataka Assembly elections scheduled to be held next month at the party headquarters in the national capital.
PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP Chief JP Nadda, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi participated in the meeting. CM Bommai on Sunday announced that he is contesting from the Shiggaon constituency.
