JP Nadda Backs PM Modi's 'Muslims First...' Claim, Says 'Congress Hates SC, ST & OBC'

JP Nadda alleged that Congress "hates SC, ST, and OBC because majority of the population in India comprises the, and this is their party's manifesto."

Bharatiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda on Friday backed Prime Minister's "Muslims first..." claims, made by him during a public meeting in Rajasthan last week. Stressing that it is indeed Congress and I.N.D.I.A. bloc's "hidden" agenda to "snatch away" the rights of the minorities and give them to the Muslims. He also alleged that the grand old party "hates SC, ST, and OBC because the majority of the population in India comprises the, and this is their party's manifesto."

JP Nadda, while backing the PM, went on to say that "Congress says that the first right to resources of the country is that of Muslims. Whereas, PM Narendra Modi says that the first right to resources of the country is that of the poor."

PM Modi had claimed that the former PM Mammohan Singh's government advocated taking away the properties of Hindus and redistributing it among the Muslims. He added that this was what the Congress manifesto for Lok Sabha elections 2024 promised.

"Manmohan Singh's government said that Muslims had the first right to the nation's resources," PM Modi claimed.

In reference to the speech made by the former PM, JP Nadda claimed that Manmohan Singh did not make the statement mistakenly.

"He did it deliberately because while answering a question in April 2009 - during a press conference in Mumbai - he stood by his statement and said that minorities, especially Muslims, should be given priority and the first right to resources of the country should be theirs," the BJP National President stated.

He further alleged that the grand old party was trying to portray Muslims in a certain shape in a bid to declare them as SC and provide reservations to them. 

"Through Sachar Committee Report, false statements were made and it was said that Muslims are in worse shape than Dalits. It means that Congress was already creating a base to declare Muslims SC and provide facilities of SC reservations to them," Nadda added.

What did Former PM Manmohan Singh Say In His Speech?

The speech in question was delivered by erstwhile Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 9, 2006 at the meeting of the National Development Council.

He had said resources must be allocated to uplift people from the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes communities, backward classes, minorities, women, and children. He also stated that the country needs to plan the development of minorities, particularly the Muslim minority, in a way that they are "empowered to share equitably the fruits of development".

Earlier this week, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had also backed PM Modi's claims saying,"Dr. Manmohan Singh himself said that if anyone has a right over the wealth of this country, it belongs first to the minority, and he specifically mentioned Muslims."
