Jharkhand Election 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday announced that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in Jharkhand, a committee will be established to identify and drive out infiltrators from the state. Shah also promised legislation to prevent land transfer to infiltrators marrying tribal women and accused the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led government of patronising Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Speaking at a rally in Seraikela, Shah emphasised, “The tribal population is declining in Jharkhand. Infiltrators are grabbing land by marrying our daughters. We will bring legislation to prevent transfer of land to infiltrators if they marry tribal women. We will also form a committee to identify infiltrators to drive them out and reclaim land grabbed by them.”

Shah further accused the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition of prioritising personal gains and corruption over governance. He claimed, “Corrupt leaders of the JMM-led coalition will be sent behind bars if BJP forms the government in Jharkhand.” Shah also pointed to alleged scams under the JMM-led administration, citing a Rs 1,000 crore Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scam, a Rs 300 crore land scam, a Rs 1,000 crore mining scam, and a multi-crore liquor scam. He alleged that Rs 3.90 lakh crore sent by the Centre had been misappropriated.

Assuring financial transparency if BJP takes charge, Shah declared, “Once the BJP government is voted to power, it will ensure that if the Centre sends one rupee, 25 more paise is added by the state so that Rs 1.25 reaches the people.”

JMM Insulted Champai Soren, Entire Tribal Community: Amit Shah In Tamar

Addressing the youth, Shah criticised the JMM-Congress government for alleged corruption through exam paper leaks. Speaking in Ranchi's Tamar, he remarked, “The Congress and JMM government has played with the future of Jharkhand’s youth. They leak exam papers and indulge in corruption, thinking they can escape after throwing the future of lakhs of youth into darkness. Jharkhand’s youth, press the lotus button, and in five years, all those responsible for paper leaks will be behind bars.”

He also highlighted the alleged mistreatment of Champai Soren. “Champai Soren ji remained loyal to Guru ji and Hemant ji for many years, but the way he was insulted and forced to resign is not just an insult to him but to the entire tribal community of Jharkhand,” Shah said.

Taking a swipe at the opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), Shah remarked, “On one side, the INDI Alliance works to make themselves and their workers millionaires, while Prime Minister Modi is working to make our sisters 'Lakhpati Didis’.”

Elections to the 81-member Jharkhand assembly will be held on November 13 and 20, and the counting of votes will take place on November 23.
