Schools in Ranchi city will remain shut on Thursday in view of the swearing-in of the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand, an official said.
Hemant Soren appealed to the public to attend his swearing-in ceremony and also shared a live stream YouTube link for the event.
Soren retained the Barhait assembly seat with a margin of 39,791 votes in the recently held elections. The JMM-led alliance achieved a notable victory by securing 56 of the 81 seats in the state Assembly. The BJP-led NDA managed to bag 24 seats.
Sources have said that the new cabinet will be expanded next week after the new government takes the vote of confidence.
Hemant Soren could be the only minister of the state to take oath today. Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha or JMM has not received any list of ministers from ally Congress.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the 49-year-old Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader at 4 pm.

In the recently held Jharkhand Assembly polls, Soren retained the Barhait seat by defeating BJP's Gamliyel Hembrom by a margin of 39,791 votes.
Hemant Soren’s JMM-led alliance emerged victorious, bagging 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, while the BJP-led NDA won 24 seats.
"I’m grateful to the people of Jharkhand for their continued trust in our leadership," Soren said. "This victory reflects the aspirations of the people, and we will work towards fulfilling them. This is a victory of the people and their vision for a peaceful and progressive Jharkhand," Soren said in his victory speech. He also appealed to the masses to attend his oath ceremony as he shared a YouTube link where people could watch the event live.
Special security arrangements were made with special traffic arrangements ahead of the swearing-in ceremony. Posters about the ceremony were also put up across the city.
Congress general secretary and Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir stated that Soren is expected to take oath alone and that the Cabinet will be expanded after a vote of confidence in the Assembly.
