Jan Adhikar Party leader Pappu Yadav has announced joining the Congress ahead of Lok Sabha Elections, party leader Pawan Khera announced on Wednesday.


The Jan Adhikar Party chief will also merge his party with Congress, weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections, Khera said. 


Yadav, a former five-time MP from Bihar, is the husband of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ranjeet Ranjan and is known for having influence in Seemanchal area of the eastern state.






"Pappu Yadav ji is a strong leader. Today, he is joining Congress after being influenced by the leadership, policies and direction of the Congress Party. He is also merging 'Jan Adhikar Party' with Congress. This merger is not ordinary, but historical," Pawan Khera said on X.

After joining Congress, Pappu Yadav said his entire family has been a supporter of Conngress. He was accompanied by his son Sarthak Ranjan and other party leaders as he announced his decision at the AICC headquarters.


"My entire family has been a supporter of the Congress ideology. The trust we received from Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi is enough for us," Yadav said.


Mohan Prakash, in-charge of Congress affairs in Bihar, was also present.


"We will win the 2024 Lok Sabha and certainly 2025 assembly elections. I thank my national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra," he said.


"I will struggle to strengthen the Congress and work with all my might in this regard," Yadav added.
