The JJP-BJP alliance in Haryana is on the brink of collapse after failed seat-sharing talks ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Sirsa MLA Gopal Kanda told news agency ANI. However, the final decision is going to be announced only after Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala's meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
This comes after JJP chief Dushyant Chautala announced that the party was fully prepared to contest all the seats solo, news agency IANS reported. A party leader said that two rounds of talks have already been held by the JJP coordination committee in this regard.
A party leader quoting Chautala, said the JJP coordination committee has held two rounds of talks on the issue of alliance.
The bone of contention lies in the Hisar and Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha -- the JJP's priority and the plank on which the alliance was dependent.
"Till now, the JJP has held successful rallies in six Lok Sabha seats and on March 13, the seventh Lok Sabha rally will be held in Hisar in which the public will be informed about the development works done in Hisar," Chautala told the media in Sirsa after the election coordination committee meeting.
"The BJP-JJP coalition government has been successful in the last four and a half years with the objective of providing better facilities for farmers and the common person, and we will continue to work with the same thinking in future also," he added.
On the question of Hisar BJP MP Brijendra Singh switching to the Congress, Chautala said, "That is his own political decision and Brijendra Singh has taken this decision after a year of demanding discontinuing the alliance (with the JJP)".
