Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rebel Ranjit Chautala, who resigned as a minister after being denied a ticket and contested the Haryana elections independently from Haryana is trailing from the Assembly seat of Rania, as Arjun Chautala of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is leading with 27938 votes as pers ECI.


Days before the Haryana assembly elections, the BJP expelled several leaders. The party dubbed the leaders as 'rebels' and expelled them for six years after they filed nominations as Independents, contesting against leaders of the BJP including the Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.



Ranjit Chautala is trailing with 21777 votes from Rania. This is the number as of 11:36 AM. Counting is still going on with 7 out of 14 rounds complete.


Those who were expelled include Ranjit Chautala, who resigned as a minister after being denied a ticket, Sandeep Garg, who filed a nomination to contest against Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from Ladwa, Zile Ram Sharma, Bachan Singh Arya, Radha Ahlawat, Naveen Goyal and Kehar Singh Rawat.




Ranjit Singh Chautala was the Power and Jails minister in the Nayab Singh Saini government and was denied a ticket from the Rania seat after the saffron party decided to nominate Shishpal Kambhoj instead. Soon after an announcement by BJP, Ranjit Chautala declared that he would contest the polls from Rania only, either as an Independent candidate or from another party. Ultimately, he contested the polls independently.


The ruling BJP seems to have crossed the majority mark in the Haryana assembly and was leading on 49 seats, while the Congress was ahead on 35, according to the latest trends available on the Election Commission website.


Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda were ahead in their seats. However, INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala and JJP's Dushyant Chautala were trailing from their seats.


Since morning, Congress and BJP have been engaged in a sea-saw battle in Haryana.
