Kangana Ranaut's repeated remarks on the three repealed farm laws and the farmers' protest of 2020-21 have stirred up a political debate, putting the Bharatiya Janata Party on the back foot. The BJP, which was already plagued by the exodus of its MLAs and leaders in Haryana over ticket distribution, is now in damage control mode. While multiple BJP leaders are now slamming Kangana Ranaut, the Congress has made it a poll plank.
Although the BJP has said that Kangana Ranaut's remarks were her personal views and not the party's official stance, the Congress has alleged that there was a plot to bring back the laws. "Even after the martyrdom of 750 farmers, the anti-farmer BJP and Modi government did not realise their grave crime. There is talk of re-implementing the three black anti-farmer laws. The Congress Party strongly opposes this," said party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Mallikarjun Kharge Blames PM Modi For Kangana's Remarks
"The Modi government, which crushed the farmers under vehicles, used barbed wire, tear gas from drones, nails and guns against our food providers, this is something that 62 crore farmers of India will never forget. This time, farmers from all the electoral states, including Haryana, will get a befitting reply to the derogatory remarks of the Prime Minister himself in Parliament, calling them "agitators" and "parasites"," he added.
He blamed PM Narendra Modi for the statements by "his ministers, MPs and propaganda machinery", who insulted farmers regularly. "The whole country has come to know that anti-farmer hateful mentality is present in every vein of the BJP," he added.
Haryana Congress MP Deepender Hooda alleged that Kangana Ranaut wanted to implement the three [scrapped] agricultural laws. "If the BJP government is formed in Haryana, these three black laws will be implemented. I challenge you... Congress government will be formed in Haryana and there is no power that can implement the three black laws again," he said.
BJP Calls 'Kangana's Rant' 'Illogical'
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that the party disapproved of Kangana Ranaut's remarks. "Kangana Ranaut is not authorised to make such a statement on behalf of the BJP and it doesn't depict the BJP's view on the farm bills. We disapprove of this statement," Bhatia said.
BJP leader Jaiveer Shergil called Kangana Ranaut's comments "illogical rant".
