All Indian citizens aged 18 or above as of January 1st of the electoral roll year are eligible to register as voters. Only individuals declared of unsound mind by a competent court or convicted of electoral-related offences are ineligible.


The Voting Process:


Poll dates and hours are determined and widely publicized by the Election Commission of India. Upon arrival at the polling station, queues are regulated for men, women, and the physically challenged. Each voter is called in groups of 3-4 by the queue supervisors. Physically challenged and women with infants are given priority.


- Stage 1: Present your identity document to the First Polling Officer for verification. An unofficial identity slip may assist in locating your name but doesn't guarantee identification. Your name and serial number will be called out.
  
- Stage 2: Proceed to the Second Polling Officer for indelible ink marking on your left forefinger. Your serial number will be recorded in the register, and you'll sign (or provide a thumb impression).
  
- Stage 3: Hand your voter's slip to the Third Polling Officer. You'll be directed to the voting compartment to cast your vote. Each voter proceeds in the sequence of their recorded serial number.
