Elections 2019: Amid the exit poll results that have predicted a comfortable victory for the BJP-led NDA, Congress General Secretary in charge of UP East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, urged her party workers to not to believe in the survey. She also sought to bolster the morale of the partymen by asking them to not be disheartened by "rumours".

She also said the workers need to be alert at their respective booths and should not fall prey to "rumours and exit poll trends which are being promoted to undermine the spirits of Congress persons."

Priyanka in her message said, "Don't be disheartened with rumours and exit polls. These are crafted to undermine your spirits. Because of all this your alertness becomes all the more important. Be on your guard on strong rooms and counting centres. We are sure our and your hard work will bear fruit."

Most exit polls have predicted a majority for the BJP-led NDA, leaving the UPA far behind. According to an exit poll conducted by ABP News-Nielsen on Sunday, it has been predicted that the BJP-led NDA will cross the majority mark of 277 in the 543-member Lok Sabha, five seats above the majority mark. While the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) could win 130 seats while other regional/non-aligned parties are tipped to win 135 seats.

Several BJP leaders asserted on Monday that the party will get a majority on its own, repeating the unprecedented feat it achieved in 2014 by winning 282 seats. While the Congress party has said the exit poll results are "imaginary and misleading" and were a ploy by the BJP to divert the attention of the people when it is actually faced by imminent defeat.
