Delhi MCD Exit Poll Results 2022: The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to sweep the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election, according to poll of exit polls. Most exit polls have predicted that the ruling party in Delhi would bag over 145 of the 250 wards in the MCD polls. This was the first civic election in Delhi after the fresh delimitation exercise.

According to an exit poll by Aaj Tak, AAP may get 149-171 wards. Another exit poll by Times Now shows Arvind Kejriwal's party getting anywhere between 146 and 156 wards.

Aaj Tak shows BJP getting 69-91 wards while the Times Now exit poll has given BJP anywhere between 84-94 wards. Both exit polls have shown the Congress getting 10 or less wards.

More than 50 per cent voting was recorded on Sunday in the election to the 250 municipal wards in Delhi. The results will be announced on December 7.

If the exit poll results match the numbers on counting day, it would be a big setback for the BJP -- which has been controlling municipal bodies for 15 years.

A victory in the MCD polls will not only cement AAP's position in Delhi but will also give the party confidence to take forward its national ambitions and emerge as a serious contender to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Garbage collection and landfills emerged as one of the biggest issues in the fight between AAP and the BJP.

The high-voltage election campaign saw BJP deploying its top leaders, including national president JP Nadda, 19 Union ministers like Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal and chief ministers of six states.

The BJP fared poorly in the 2020 Delhi Assembly polls and won just eight of the 70 seats.

In the 2017 civic election, the BJP won 181 of the 270 wards. Polling could not be held on two seats due to the death of candidates. The AAP had won 48 wards and the Congress 27.
