The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka has taken legal action against BJP leader C T Ravi following a post made by him on social media. Chikkamagalur District Election Officer has lodged an FIR against Ravi under sections 153A of the Indian Penal Code and 126 of the Representation of the People Act on March 20, 2024. The action was initiated since Model Code of Conduct has been implemented across the country ahead of Lok Sabha Election 2024.
Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka said, "With respect to the post on X by Mr. C T Ravi, Chikkamagalur DEO has filed an FIR against him at Chikkamagalur Town Police Station u/s 153A of IPC and 126 of RP Act on 20.03.24."

On the action, CT Ravi said, "Dear @ECISVEEP, I have received the details of the FIR filed against me by CONgress. As a Sanatani, I responded to the irresponsible and insensitive comments made by CONgress MP Rahul Gandhi. I would greatly appreciate if you could share the details of the FIR lodged against Rahul Gandhi for his statements hurting the sentiments of those who follow Sanatana Dharma."
Prior to the legal action, CT Ravi had taken to social media urging Hindus to unite against what he described as an assault by "Congress co-owner" Rahul Gandhi on Sanatana Dharma. Taking to X, CT Ravi posted, "Dear Hindus, CONgress co-owner Rahul Gandhi has declared war against us Hindus. It is high time we unite to protect and defend Sanatana Dharma from those who are out to destroy it."
