Ahead of the five State Assembly election results, All-India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday directed all incharges and observers of the election states to remain in the state of which they have given responsibility, news agency ANI reported. The incharges and observers have been told to keep an eye on the counting of votes. DK Shivakumar will reach Hyderabad, Telangana, tomorrow, while Randeep Surjewala is in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The elections in five states -- Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram -- are considered as semi-finals ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election and have produced varied results for the two major parties, the BJP and the Congress. While Rajasthan is expected to follow the BJP's'revolving door' tradition and return to power, the Congress is expected to win Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, thereby ending the saffron party's chances of a fourth straight win in the Hindi heartland state, according to ABP-CVoter exit poll predictions.

In Chhattisgarh, a neck-and-neck race is expected, with Congress slightly ahead. In Mizoram, the newly established Zoram People's Movement is expected to challenge the ruling Mizo National Front.
According to the ABP-CVoter exit poll, Congress is expected to win 71 to 91 seats while increasing its vote share to 41.1 percent from 39.3 percent in 2018.
After its government crumbled in 2020 due to a mutiny led by Jyotiraditya Scindia, despite a victory in the 2018 elections, the Congress is poised to reclaim Madhya Pradesh and win anywhere between 113 and 137 seats, as per the ABP-CVoter exit poll.
