Congress MP Navjot Singh Sidhu claimed that Punjab Chief Minister and AAP leader Bhagwant Singh Mann approached him once to join the grand old party. Sidhu made these claims during an interview with a media outlet when he was asked about the rumours that he may join the BJP or whether the party had approached him.

The Congress MP also shared a clip of this interview on his X handle. "I can tell you one thing about who had approached (me). Bhagwant Mann sahab had come to me. If he tells, I will even tell him the place (where they met)."

He claimed that Mann had told him that he was "ready to be his deputy" if Sidhu got him to join Congress. He also stated that Mann told him that if Sidhu joined the Aam Aadmi Party, he was still ready to be his deputy.

However, Sidhu declined his offer and claimed that he told Mann that he was committed to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and it would not be possible for him to leave them.

He added that he told Mann that he was welcome to join the grand old party and should talk to the party leadership in Delhi about it. After this, there was no further discussion, he added.

The former cricketer claimed that his sole aim is to serve the people of Punjab and make their lives better. Slamming the Mann-led AAP government over the state's mounting debt, he stated: "They move in aircraft and luxury vehicles but debt has to be paid by Punjabis."

Meanwhile, there was no immediate response from Mann to Sidhu's claims.
