Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday targeted the Congress manifesto over the silence on the Citizenship Amendment law implemented by the Centre last month. Contrasting with Congress manifesto, Pinarayi highlighted the CPI (M) manifesto's commitment to repealing the CAA. Additionally, he criticised the BJP for unilaterally revoking Article 370 without due process and accused Congress of failing to oppose it effectively. He also asserted that the BJP would not secure any of the 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Addressing the reporters on Tuesday, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said, "The CPI(M) manifesto pledges to repeal the CAA, whereas the Congress manifesto remains notably silent on the issue"
Further, he said, Article 370 which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated by the BJP government in one day. He said, "It was removed without following any procedures. Congress failed to raise protests against this, inside and outside the Parliament. We have consistently maintained our political stance and principles, unlike the Congress, which seems willing to compromise its values for votes..."
The statement of Pinarayi Vijayan came a day after Congress released its manifesto promising scrapping of Agnipath, statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and civil union for LGBTQIA+ couples in Delhi. Though a part of I.N.D.I.A bloc, the Congress and CPI(M) are a foe in Kerala.
Later, Pinarayi Vijayan alleged that BJP would not win even 1 out of the 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
