Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday claimed that the Congress and its allies were planning to cripple India's nuclear capabilities. He said the Congress wants an India plagued by poverty and problems. "That's why the Congress is saying that it will reverse the abrogation of Article 370 and Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The Congress's allies are even announcing amid the elections that they will end India's nuclear weapons," PM Modi said, referring to the CPM manifesto.

What The CPI(M) Manifesto Said About Nuclear Weapons

The CPI(M), a partner of the Congress in the I.N.D.I.A Opposition bloc, the Lok Sabha elections says that the party will strive for a "denuclearised environment in South Asia". "Pursuing universal nuclear disarmament through the UN; providing parliamentary sanction for a moratorium on testing; striving for a de-nuclearised environment in South Asia; seeking removal of nuclear weapons from the US military base in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean," the manifesto reads.

Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh sought the Congress's stance on the CPI-M's aim for nuclear disarmament at a time when two of India's nuclear-capable neighbours were at odds with the nation.

Congress Insulted Mandi And Kangana Ranaut: PM Modi

PM Modi accused the Congress of insulting the BJP's Mandi candidate Kangana Ranaut and the region as a whole. "Congress is steeped in the mentality of not letting women rise... Congress hasn't been able to advance to the 21st century. It's working backwards. The royal family of the Congress is anti-women. Congress insulted the BJP's Kangana Ranaut taking the name of Mandi. The Congress never apologised for this," he said

PM Modi said he had opened the doors for women in the armed forces. "Be it a fighter pilot or a pilot of passenger planes, our daughters are going to be flying for five years," he said.

PM Modi further attacked the Congress, saying the Congress supported Sharia. "Congress backs Sharia under the guise of Muslim personal law. Congress is extremely communal, extremely casteist, and cares about only one family. This country cannot be made by those who live on the legacy of their forefathers. This country needs those who rise from the nation's soil," he said. "If your vote had not increased Modi's power, Congress would never have allowed Ram Temple to be built. Your one vote brought down the wall of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, made CAA possible, implemented 'One Rank, One Pension' for the soldiers, and made provisions for the reservation for women in Parliament," he said.

Polling for all four seats of Himachal Pradesh will be held in the seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.
