In response to the Congress party's defeat in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tendered his resignation to the Governor on Sunday. 






"I have submitted my resignation (from CM post) to the Governor of Chhattisgarh. We humbly accept the mandate of the people," stated Bhupesh Baghel in response to the outcome of the assembly polls.






Chhattisgarh witnessed a political reversal as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surged ahead, surpassing the halfway mark in the state assembly elections. According to the Election Commission website, the BJP won 53 seats and is currently leading in one, effectively ousting the Congress.


According to the Election Commission, in the electoral contest for the 90 constituencies, the Congress won 33 seats and leads in one, while the Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) won one.


Contrary to expectations, Chhattisgarh, previously regarded as a Congress stronghold, took a dramatic turn by mid-afternoon. The Congress won 68 seats in the 2018 assembly elections, while the BJP came in second with 15. Five segments were won by the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh.

The Congress won 35 of the 90 assembly seats in the tribal-dominated Bastar region, a decrease of 33 from the previous year's results. The BJP took advantage of this shift, increasing its seat count from 15 to 54.

According to the Election Commission (EC), while the BJP is expected to win 54 seats and the Congress 35 in Chhattisgarh, the saffron party is expected to win 115 seats and the Congress 69 in Rajasthan.
