'Your One Vote Will Decide Future Of Youth, Farmers And Women': Chhattisgarh CM Baghel Urges People To Vote

Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023: The second phase of elections is being held in the state on Friday, and voting is underway on 70 seats.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel urged people to vote on Friday as the state goes to the second phase of the election. He said that every single vote will decide the future of youth, farmers and women. He asked people to step out and exercise their franchise for the state. 

"Today polling will happen for the remaining 70 seats...Your one vote will decide the future of youth, farmers, women...Please move out of your homes to vote...Vote for the betterment of Chhattisgarh."

The voting commenced following extensive campaigns by both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win the hearts of the people. The BJP, which ruled the state from 2003 to 2018, seeks to replace the Congress government led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The party aims to return to power, emphasising its role in the state's creation and promising prosperity. The polls address various issues, including caste census, loan waivers, gas cylinder subsidies, unemployment, jobs, and housing for the poor.

The first phase of polling in the state for 20 seats took place on November 7. Both parties claim to have performed well in this initial phase. 70 seats are undergoing voting in the second phase of elections on Friday. In the 2018 elections, the Congress had a good success rate, winning 51 out of these 70 seats.

Both parties have made significant efforts to appeal to nearly 38 lakh farmers in the state. Scheduled Tribes make up over 30 per cent of the state's population.
