Bhartiya Janata Party leader Pramod Yadav was allegedly shot dead by three bike-borne assailants on Thursday in Bodhapur village of Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur. After being shot, the BJP leader was taken to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.


Upon receiving information about the incident, BJP workers reached the hospital where the leader was taken. Pramod Yadav was a candidate from the state's Malhani Assembly in 2012.


The Superintendent of Police also reached the hospital and a special team has now been formed to nab the three accused who remain at large.


Elaborating on the incident, the police informed that the leader He was attacked on the pretext of being given a card.


The Superintendent of Police, Jaunpur, Ajay Pal Sharma stated that he will reveal the details of the incident soon. Based on current information, he said that three people are suspected to be involved in this case. He further said that details about the suspects have been received and the investigation into the matter is underway.


BJP Leader Shot Dead By Naxalites


A local leader of the BJP was on Wednesday shot dead by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The deceased, identified as Kailash Nag was a contractor by profession and was an office-bearer of 'Vyapari Prakosth' (traders cell) of the BJP in the BJP district. He had given his JCB machine for  work in his village. A group of Naxalites reached the site and set the machine on fire before shooting Nag dead. 


This was the eighth killing of a BJP leader by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Maoist-affected areas in the last one year,news agency PTI reported.


Another local BJP leader, Tirupati Katla was killed in Toynar village in Bijapur district last week. BJP's Narayanpur district unit Vice President, Ratan Dubey, was hacked to death while he was campaigning ahead of the Assembly polls in November 2023.
