Congress general secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh Kumari Selja said the names of its candidates for the upcoming elections would be announced by this weekend and that the party had set a target of winning 75 seats out of 90.
On reports of dissatisfaction within the party over the distribution of tickets, Rajasthan LoP and BJP MLA Rajendra Rathore says, "There is no such dissatisfaction. When it comes to 'excellent' and 'best' within the party, the 'excellent' does have a few things in mind. BJP is a cadre-based party...The party is one, there are no factions on infighting here - unlike Congress..."
Election Commission transfers 9 District Magistrates/DEO, 25 Commissioners of Police/ SPs/Addl. BJP MP Devji M Patel's cavalcade was pelted with stones by some people protesting against his nomination from Sanchore in the November 25 Rajasthan assembly polls, police said. The leader escaped unhurt but his and some other vehicles in the motorcade were damaged, PTI reported.

The Election Commission on Wednesday revised the polling date for elections in Rajasthan to November 25 from November 23.
BJP Yuva Morcha National President and MP Tejasvi Surya says, "Bhupesh Bhagel looted money from here and sent it to Karnataka and because of that money we lost the election in Karnataka. But this time in Chhattisgarh, youths have decided that they will liberate Chhattisgarh from this corruption, dynasty and appeasement politics and establish BJP here."
BJP leader Diya Kumari on getting election ticket from Vidhyadhar Nagar in Jaipur and PM Modi's visit to the state "It is a big thing for me that I have been selected as a candidate from Vidhyadhar Nagar. I feel fortunate. I will not fight this alone but with the support of party workers...It is a fortunate thing that the PM will be visiting Rajasthan. It would be great if he visited Vidhyadhar Nagar."
Ahead of the Chhattisgarh election, Congress in-charge in the poll-bound state Kumari Selja, said, "The Election Commission has given dates for elections in different states... Polling will happen on two days in Chhattisgarh. The first phase of voting will take place on November 7 in the southern part (of Chhattisgarh). After that, on November 17, voting will take place in the remaining parts of Chhattisgarh...The Congress party is completely ready... It would not be wrong to say that we have been ready for the past five years...We are going among people with the slogan, 'Bharosa Barkarar, Fir Se Congress Sarkar'... We are saying this because our government fulfilled promises that we had made... This is the difference between the BJP and Congress."
BJP MP from Pali, PP Chaudhary has written to the Election Commission of India to change the date of the Rajasthan election (23rd November) as it coincides with Dev Uthani Ekadashi.
A day after the BJP announced its first list of 41 candidates for the Rajasthan Assembly polls, at least seven disappointed ticket aspirants or their supporters on Tuesday protested against the party, as reported by the news agency PTI.
Mizoram's governing Mizo National Front (MNF) and the major opposition Congress opposed the date of the Assembly polls being set for December 3 since the day (Sunday) is a prayer day for Christians, news agency IANS reported.
According to the ABP-CVoter survey, it is a tough contest between Congress's Kamalnath and incumbent chief minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madhya Pradesh. Shivraj Singh Chauhan is leading with 43 per cent, while Kamalnath is at 42 per cent.
BRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will undertake a brisk campaign for the state assembly polls, addressing 41 public rallies beginning October 15, as reported by the news agency PTI. The ruling party has already announced that KCR would release its manifesto for the polls and address a public meeting at Husnabad in Siddipet district on October 15.
Speaking on the party meeting held ahead of the Rajasthan elections, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, "Many leaders including the Rajasthan state president, came for the meeting and are talking to everyone... There is so much protest within the BJP itself, that they have to give tickets to their MPs. There are no good candidates in BJP due to which they have to field MPs... I think this time the tradition will change in Rajasthan. People are happy with Ashok Gehlot's government and want the plans he started to continue.”
Amidst reports of unrest in BJP over ticket distribution in Rajasthan, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Tuesday stated that a team led by MoS Kailash Choudhary has been constituted for "damage control," news agency ANI reported. Speaking with media persons, Union Minister Meghwal stated: "I too have spoken with 8-10 people. We hold reviews every day. We will do whatever damage control is required. All of them are workers of the BJP. When they were demanding tickets, they were competing against each other. Now, that tickets have been allotted, everyone will work to make the candidates - who received the tickets - win."
MP: Former MLA from Khurai, Arunoday Choubey returns to Congress. He had quit the party last year in September.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the governing BRS and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, as well as the Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), claiming that only the BJP can free Telangana from "modern Razakars." The union home minister was in Adilabad, where he addressed a public assembly, urging supporters to vote for the BJP in order to have a "double engine Sarkar."
On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of making the state "number one in farmers suicides and corruption across the country during his 10-year rule." "KCR did not work for the poor, farmers, or tribals; he only worked to install his son, K.T. Rama Rao, as Chief Minister." "Not a single promise has been kept because he only works for his family," he alleged in Adilabad, The Hindu reported.

Raipur, Oct 10 (PTI) A BJP leader accused in a rioting case and a villager whose son was killed in a communal clash have been given tickets by the saffron party for the Chhattisgarh assembly polls scheduled next month.
While the opposition BJP in Chhattisgarh has justified its decision to field these two candidates, a political observer said communalism may feature in the state poll campaign this time.
Asked whether the BJP was trying to raise the issue of communal violence by giving these tickets, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, "No matter how hard they try, it will not be an issue." Ishwar Sahu, whose son was killed in a communal clash in Biranpur village of Bemetara district in April this year, has been fielded from Saja assembly constituency, while Vijay Sharma, the BJP leader who was named as accused in an incident of rioting in adjoining Kabirdham district in 2021, will contest from Kawardha seat.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address a public rally in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol today.
"BJP should decide by how many (seats) it wants to lose the elections. Their defeat is inevitable; voters of Madhya Pradesh have recognised them," says MP Congress chief Kamal Nath.

As BJP released second list of candidates for Chhattisgarh assembly elections 2023, State BJP president Arun Sao said, "Today the second list of candidates has been released by the party. 64 candidates' name has been announced in this list. From 90 seats, names have been announced for 85 seats till now. Among these 85 candidates, 43 candidates are those who will be contesting for the first time in Vidhan Sabha elections..."

The Election Commission of India on Monday announced the poll schedule for legislative assemblies of five states — Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Telangana.
Polls to the Legislative Assemblies of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram will be held in a single phase while Chhattisgarh will undergo polls in two phases.
Mizoram will go to polls on November 7, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23, and Telangana on November 30 while Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases on November 7 and November 17.
Over 16 crore registered voters are set to caste their votes in 679 assembly constituencies across the five states.
The term of Mizoram Legislative Assembly will end on December 17, 2023 while the current Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will have its term ending on January 3, 2024.
The Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh will terminate on January 6, 2024 and the present tenure of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly will end on January 14, 2024.
Telangana will see its Legislative Assembly's current term terminating on January 16, 2024.
ABP CVoter Opinion Poll
As the poll schedule has been announced, ABP News in association with CVoter conducted a survey to guage the mood of voters in the five states to know their choice of leaders and political parties with less than a month left for the polls. In Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to make significant gains. The survey suggests that the BJP could secure anywhere between 127 to 137 seats out of the 200-member Assembly while Congress is projected to win between 59 to 69 seats.
A close contest is on cards in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh between the BJP and Congress. Out of the total 90 seats in Chhattisgarh, the saffron party can secure 39 to 45 seats, while the Congress is expected to win 45 to 51 seats
In the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly, a maximum of 113 to 125 seats can go to the Congress while the ruling BJP is likely to get 104 to 116 seats.
The ruling Mizo National Front could again come back to power in Mizoram as it is porjected to secure 13 to 17 seats while INC could win 10 to 14 seats, ZPM 9 to 13 seats, and Others 1 to 3 seats.
Telangana could see a face-off between ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Congress with a possibility of BRS securing 43 to 55 seats, while the Congress is expected to win 48 to 60 seats.
