"Bastar has been the bastion of the Congress. In 2018, we won 11 assembly seats out of 12 seats. In the upcoming phase one of the assembly polls, we will win all 12 seats in Bastar. Speaking to reporters, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, "BJP doesn't think about the people of Chhattisgarh. If they had any thought regarding the direction in which they want to Chhattisgarh, if they had some plans they would have spoken about it...Elections are round the corner. Despite being in power, we listed our 16 guarantees. But there is no guarantee about their guarantees, people of the state know this. They trust our guarantees."

The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a notification banning conduct, publication and publicity of exit polls from 7.00 AM of November 7 and 6.30 PM of November 30 when five states go for assembly elections.While polling will be held in two phases in Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, voting will take place in Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana on November 7, November 17, November 25 and November 30 respectively.Citing provisions of the electoral law, the EC noted that any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or with both.It notified the period between 7:00 AM on November 7, 2023 (Tuesday) and 6.30 PM on November 30, 2023 (Thursday) as the period during which conducting and publishing or publicising exit poll by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection with the five elections and assembly by election in Nagaland, shall be prohibited. The Election Commission does not have any legal authority to regulate "political alliances", the poll panel has told the Delhi High Court in response to a petition challenging the use of the acronym INDIA by a coalition of 26 political parties.
The Election Commission (EC), in its reply filed in the case, said it has the power to conduct elections and register entities as a political party but "political alliances" are not recognised as "regulated entities" under the Representation of the People Act or the Indian Constitution.
"There are 40,78,681 lakh registered voters in Chhattisgarh for the first phase of Assembly polls. For the second phase, there are 1,63,14,489 registered voters in the state," says Vinay Kumar Agrawal, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh at a press conference.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday decided not to contest the Telangana Assembly elections scheduled next month, as reported by the news agency IANS. With the TDP supremo and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu still in jail in an alleged skill development scam, the party decided to stay away from the contest.
"Every time I remember the day when I went to file nomination for the first time. Today I have left from Bhilai residence to file nomination as a candidate from the Patan assembly constituency. My wife Mukteshwari did tilak like every time. Your love is my strength. For the self-respect of Chhattisgarh, I promise to always remain dedicated to serving you all," Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel said on X.
Days after the announcement of Assembly polls in Telangana, the business of customising trucks for use in election campaigning is booming in Hyderabad. Hundreds of campaign vehicles are being prepared at the city's Exhibition Ground. Telangana goes to polls on November 30 and the counting of votes will be taken up on December 3.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on Saturday exuded confidence that Congress will form the government in upcoming Assembly polls in Telangana. "I will tell you the exact number (seats) on my next visit. I know. I already have an indication. Surely, Congress will form the government in Telangana," Shivakumar said while addressing the media after a poll rally in Telangana's Vikarabad, as quoted by ANI.
Congress organises marathon for first-time voters in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. “Bhupesh Baghel has done a lot of work for the growth of education in the state in the last five years, which wasn't done earlier,” said one of the participants, as quoted by PTI.
BJP State President and Union Minister G Krishan Reddy said that they will cancel Muslim reservations and extend the benefit to members of the Backward Classes (BC) communities if voted to power in Telangana, a statement from Telangana BJP Office said, as reported by the news agency ANI. He has also stated that the campaign by the BJP will be intensified from November 3 in which a large number of Union Ministers and central leaders participate."
Addressing a gathering after admitting several leaders from BRS and other parties from Adilabad and Peddapalli districts at the party office in Nampally on Sunday, Kishan Reddy said the nomination process will commence in the next 2- 3 days.

The Assembly polls in the five states will be held between November 7 and November 30. Mizoram will go to polls on November 7, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25, and Telangana on November 30 while Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases on November 7 and November 17.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a political rally in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, making a fervent appeal to the electorate in the poll-bound state to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shah emphasised that supporting the BJP is crucial for strengthening the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his quest to elevate India to a prominent global position.
During the rally, held in the state, Amit Shah told the gathering that Madhya Pradesh had experienced a decline when the Congress was in power, characterising it as a "BIMARU" (laggard) state. In contrast, he credited the BJP's governance with ushering in development across various sectors, asserting that this had positively impacted the state, news agency PTI reported.
"I appeal to you to vote for the lotus symbol for strengthening the hands of PM Modi for the security and welfare of people and to make the country number one in the world," Shah said.
The Union Home Minister highlighted the significant moment when the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya was laid, asserting that this step had been pending for decades. He remarked that “On January 22, (idol of) Lord Ram Lalla will be consecrated in the huge temple”, as quoted by PTI.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday promised that if the party comes back to power in Chhattisgarh, it will again wave loans for the farmers in the state. Addressing a public rally in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon, Rahul said that the Chhattisgarh government "is going to provide free education from KG to PG."
"I want to tell the farmers of Chhattisgarh that we had promised to waive off the farm loans last time and we fulfilled it, and this time too, we are promising that we will waive the farm loans again," he said.
"Five years ago, Congress had made 4-5 promises to the people of Chhattisgarh. We had promised the government would listen to the voice of farmers and labourers. The promises included waiving off farm loans and procuring paddy at Rs 2,500 per quintal. I want to ask you all, 'Did we fulfill all those promises," he added.
Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party led Centre, the Wayanad MP said there are two government with one working for the society while the other has been working for billionaires.
"As I said earlier, there are two types of government, one that works for farmers, poor and underprivileged ones, and the other works for billionaires. Bhupesh Baghel had said Modi Government has waived Rs 14 lakh crore of people like Adani," said the Congress leader.
Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit to poll-bound Chhattisgarh since Saturday. Ahead of the Sunday rally, he helped some cultivators at a village near Raipur in harvesting paddy and said the pro-farmer "model" of his party's government in Chhattisgarh will be replicated across India.
