Vote counting for byelections held across 26 assembly constituencies in Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu was held on Tuesday. The Congress in Himachal managed to secure its government with four of six seats won. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) won all four seats in Gujarat Assembly bypolls.
Congress Wins 4 Of 6 Seats In Himachal Assembly Bypolls
The Congress on Tuesday won the by-elections on four assembly segments. This outcome has bolstered the Congress' position in the state assembly, with the party's tally rising to 38 in a house of 65 members, ensuring the stability of the Congress-led state government for the foreseeable future.
The Congress emerged victorious in the Sujanpur, Gagret, Kutlehar, and Lahaul and Spiti assembly seats, while the BJP secured wins in the Dharamshala and Barsar constituencies, according to the Election Commission (EC).
In Sujanpur, BJP's Rajinder Rana was defeated by his long-time rival, Ranjit Singh of the Congress, by a margin of 2,440 votes. Rana, a former Congress member who switched allegiance to the BJP, had previously defeated ex-chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in the 2017 assembly polls. Ranjit Singh, a retired captain, joined the Congress after Rana was given a BJP ticket for the by-election. Singh garnered 29,529 votes against Rana's 27,089 votes, as per the EC's website.
In Lahaul and Spiti, Congress candidate Anuradha Rana, the first woman to contest elections from the constituency in 52 years, defeated Independent candidate Ram Lal Markanda by 1,960 votes in a triangular contest. Rana polled 9,414 votes, Markanda received 7,454 votes, while BJP candidate Ravi Thakur secured 3,049 votes. Anuradha Rana is now the second woman ever to win from this assembly segment.
BJP's Sudhir Sharma, termed the "kingpin of rebels" by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, won the Dharamshala assembly bypoll by 5,526 votes. Sharma received 28,066 votes against his Congress rival Devinder Singh Jaggi, who polled 22,540 votes. Independent candidate Rakesh Chowdhary, a BJP rebel, received 10,770 votes.
In Barsar, Congress rebel and BJP candidate Inder Dutt Lakhanpal won by 2,125 votes, obtaining 33,088 votes against Congress' Subhash Chand, who secured 30,961 votes.
In Gagret, BJP rebel Rakesh Kalia, contesting on a Congress ticket, defeated Congress rebel Chetanya Sharma by a margin of 8,487 votes. Kalia polled 35,768 votes, while Sharma received 27,281 votes.
In Kutlehar, Congress candidate Vivek Sharma defeated BJP's Davinder Bhutto, another Congress rebel, by 5,356 votes. Sharma polled 36,853 votes against Bhutto's 31,497 votes.
Gujarat Bypolls Results 2024
Five assembly constituencies voted to elect new representatives as the incumbent MLAs joined the BJP. These seats are Vijapur, Khambhat, Manavadar, Porbandar, and Vaghodia. The BJP won all four seats in Gujarat Assembly bypolls. BJP candidate Chiragkumar Arvindbhai Patel won the Khambhat seat. Arjun Devabhai Modhawadia won from Porbandar, Arvindbhai Junabhai Ladani won Manavadar and Dharmendra Singh Vaghela won Vaghodia.

Congress Candidate Raja Venugopal Naik won from Shorapur Assembly seat. The Shorapur seat was in focus following the death of Congress MLA Raja Venkatappa Naik.
Uttar Pradesh Bypoll Results 2024
Rakesh Kumar Yadav of the Samajwadi Party won from Gainsari.
BJP MLA from Duddhi, Ram Dular, was disqualified after he was convicted in a rape case. Bypolls were also held in Gainsari, Lucknow East, and Dadraul assembly seats that fell vacant after the death of sitting MLAs Shiv Pratap Yadav (SP), Ashutosh Tandon (BJP), and Manavendra Singh (BJP), respectively.
In Dadraul, BJP's Arvind Kumar Singh won by 1,05,972 whereas the Duddhi seat was won by SP's Vijay Singh by a margin of 3,208 seats. The Lucknow East has been secured by BJP's O. P. Srivastava by 53,887 votes.
Haryana Bypolls Results 2024
The Karnal seat fell vacant after former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar resigned to contest Lok Sabha elections. Haryana's new CM Nayab Singh Saini has won the bypoll from Haryana against Congress leader Tarlochan Singh by 41,540 votes.

Agiaon seat where CPI (M-L) fell vacant after former MLA Manoj Manji was disqualified after being sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case. CPI (M-L) candidate Shiv Prakash Ranjan leading in Bihar's Agiaon according to current ECI trends.
West Bengal Bypolls Result 2024
Reyat Hossain Sarkar of TMC won from Assembly seat of Bhagabangola in West Bengal. TMC actress-turned-politician Sayantika Banerjee contested from the Baranagar seat against BJP's Sajal Ghosh.
The Baranagar seat's bypoll followed the resignation of Trinamool Congress MLA Tapas Roy who joined the BJP. Bhagwangola also had a bypoll because of the death of Trinamool MLA Idris Ali.
Jharkhand Bypolls Results 2024
Kalpana Soren, wife of jailed former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, won from Gandey. The Assembly seat fell vacant after the resignation of sitting JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Telangana Bypolls Results 2024
Congress candidate Sriganesh won from Telanagan's Secunderabad Cantt by 13,206 votes. Secunderabad Cantt will see a new MLA due to the demise of BRS MLA Lasya Nanditha Sayanna.
Rajasthan Bypolls Results 2024:
The Bagidora seat will see a new representative due to the resignation of Congress MLA Mahendra Jeet Singh Malviya, who joined the BJP. Bharat Adivasi Party's Jaikrishn Patel won this seat with a margin of 51,434.
Tripura Bypolls Result 2024
BJP's Dipak Majumder won from Tripura's Rampur by 18,014. The Ramnagar seat fell vacant following the death of BJP MLA Surajit Datta.

The Vilavancode seat being contested after the resignation of Congress MLA S Vidyadharini has been won by the grand old party's Tharahai Cuthbert by 40,174.
