Itanagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a significant victory in Arunachal Pradesh, winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly, thus securing a clear majority for the third consecutive term. According to Election Commission officials, votes were counted for 50 assembly segments on April 19, concurrent with the Lok Sabha polls. The remaining 10 seats were won by the BJP uncontested.

Of the 50 seats contested, the BJP clinched 36, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu being one of the 10 candidates who won unopposed. This continues the saffron party's stronghold in the state, following their previous victory in 2019 where they secured 41 seats.

The National People’s Party (NPP) managed to win five seats, while the People’s Party of Arunachal garnered two seats and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured three seats. The Congress party, facing a diminishing presence in the region, won just one seat. Additionally, Independent candidates triumphed in three constituencies.
