Several persons were injured after Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) workers entered into a clash in Narasaraopet of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. The clash broke out when TDP MLA candidate Chadalavada Aravinda Babu visited the ward.
On Tuesday evening, when TDP candidate arrived at the ward, the TDP and YSRCP workers pelted stones at each other. Several individuals suffered injuries in the clash.
Narasaraopet MLA candidate Babu also suffered minor injuries. The injured were immediately treated at a nearby hospital.
An official told ANI that a case would be filed soon with more information forthcoming. As the state assembly and Lok Sabha elections are simultaneously scheduled to be held next month, TDP, BJP and Jana Sena Party (JSP) have established a seat-sharing agreement in Andhra Pradesh.
On Monday, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Andhra Pradesh concluded its seat-sharing arrangement with the TDP and Janasena for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections. Following the conclusion of negotiations, the BJP said that it will compete for six Lok Sabha seats and 10 assembly seats. As per a joint statement, the TDP will vie for 17 Lok Sabha seats and 144 state assembly seats, whereas Janasena will contest two Lok Sabha seats and 21 assembly seats.
Overall, Andhra Pradesh has 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats. The upcoming 2024 elections are the first time where all three parties will contest jointly.
