Jammu: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP president Amit Shah will today address two mega rallies in Udhampur and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the state, Shah will be campaigning for BJP candidates who are sitting MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and Union minister Jitendra Singh. The two candidates are seeking re-election from Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituencies.

Earlier on Tuesday, BJP spokesman said "Shah will be campaigning for BJP candidates on Wednesday. He will be addressing rallies in Udhampur and Sunderbani area in Rajouri district Wednesday,".

The BJP in Jammu and Kashmir is banking on its star campaigners to leave a mark in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. The voting for the Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. The state has six Lok Sabha seats.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will also hit the campaign trail to support the BJP candidates in the state.

On Tuesday, the Congress and the BJP engaged in a war of words on Tuesday over the opposition party's manifesto pledge to review the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said it would compromise national security. In a statement, BJP chief Amit Shah hit out at the opposition party over its promise to repeal section 124A (sedition law) and review the AFSPA, saying it was bringing a smile to terrorists and separatists while lowering the morale of the armed forces.
