The Gujarat Police have arrested two people, including Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani's PA Satish Vansola and an AAP worker, for allegedly sharing an edited video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Ahmedabad DCP for Zone-1 Lavina Sinha said, "An edited video of the Union Home Minister [Amit Shah] was shared on social media from two Facebook profiles. One Facebook profile was in the name of Satish Vansola and another profile was in the name of RB Bariya. We arrested both of the accused yesterday. In the primary investigation, it has come to light that they are associated with political parties. Further investigation is underway."

An FIR under sections 505A, 1B, 469, 153A and IT Act was registered against the two.

Reacting to Vansola's arrest, Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani said that he couldn't do such things (share the doctored video) knowingly. "I can never be a supporter of fake videos or fake propaganda in my life. I condemn all such actions…but no one should be selectively targeted during elections…Satish is like my brother and I am proud to have a friend like him. But he is never a person who deliberately does anything with bad intentions. I have known him closely for 6 years," Mevani said.

With these two, three persons have been arrested in the case so far. Earlier, one person, identified as Reetom Singh was arrested by the Assam Police, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Further, several Opposition leaders have been issued notices for allegedly sharing the doctored video of the Union Home Minister.

The case revolves around a doctored video where Amit Shah's speech is edited to portrayas saying: "If BJP comes to power, it will end the unconstitutional SC, ST, and OBC reservation.” The clip was doctored from a 2023 speech in Telangana where he said that the BJP would scrap the "unconstitutional reservation of Muslims".

On Tuesday, Amit Shah referring to the doctored clip, alleged the Congress's hand in it and said the party had stooped to a new low in politics under Rahul Gandhi.
