'Ab Hoga Nyay': Congress launches campaign slogan, song for Lok Sabha Elections

While launching the slogan party leader Anand Sharma said Congress campaign will be centered around 'Nyay', as this word “promises justice to all”.

New Delhi: The Congress party on Sunday launched its campaign slogan and theme song for the Lok Sabha election on Sunday. The slogan of the party is ‘Ab Hoga Nyay’ and the theme song is penned by Javed Akhtar, and video has been filmed by Nikkhil Advani. The party had to remove a couple of stanzas from their campaign song ahead of its launch, due to reported objection of the Election Commission. While launching the slogan party leader Anand Sharma said Congress campaign will be centered around 'Nyay', as this word “promises justice to all”. The Election Commission of India (ECI) reportedly objected to the lines that explicitly referred to alleged "disturbed communal harmony." The song highlights the party's proposed minimum income guarantee"NYAY" scheme. As per ANI, the Commission objected to a few lines after which the party had to replace them. These lines had accused the NDA government at the Centre of spreading hatred and pitching communities against each other. The campaign song also mentions the job situation, demonetisation, women's security, GST and farmers' suicide, among other issues. Congress in its manifesto has promised to give Rs 72,000 per year to the 20 per cent of India’s poorest under its NYAY scheme, if party comes to power. The Lok Sabha polls will start on April 11 and will end on May 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
