New Delhi: The Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a massive jolt on Saturday as its sitting MLA from Ropar, Amarjit Singh Sandoa, joined the Congress party.

Sandoa joined the Indian National Congress in the presence of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in Chandigarh. Till now, a total of 5 MLA’s of AAP have either left the party post or joined another opponent.

On Twitter Chief Minister Singh wrote "Happy to welcome AAP Punjab MLA from Roopnagar Amarjit Sandoa in INC Punjab. Clearly shows which way the wind is blowing and also the frustration within Aam Aadmi Party."

Earlier last month, dissident AAP legislator Nazar Singh Manshahia joined the Congress in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

The Mansa assembly seat is part of the Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency. The chief minister said the joining of the Mansa legislator would further strengthen the Congress.

Manshahia, the 56-year-old legislator, was part of the group of rebel AAP MLAs who had aligned with Sukhpal Singh Khaira after he was removed unceremoniously from the post of the Leader of Opposition of Punjab Assembly last year.
