Minutes before polling got underway in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a message via twitter encouraging young voters to come out and vote in large numbers.

"Dear Citizens of India, Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha polls start today. I am sure all those whose seats are polling today will strengthen our democracy by exercising their franchise. I hope more youngsters head to the polling booths and vote," PM Modi tweeted.

PM Modi in his recent poll election rallies had emphasized on asking young people to vote for the BJP and thereby help form a stable government and not one run by what he called "mahamilavat", referring to the opposition's grand alliance.

The second phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections began under the garb of multiple raids carried out by Income Tax authorities say is a cash-for-votes scam in Tamil Nadu.

The second phase of polling in the 2019 general elections is underway in 95 constituencies across 12 states and one Union territory across the country.
