Mumbai: The Congress and the NCP along with smaller regional parties announced their seat-sharing for the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra on Saturday.
Addressing the media, Maharashtra Congress Chief Ashok Chavan said that the Congress will contest on 24 seats, NCP will bag 20 seats, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi on 1 seat, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana on 2 seats, Yuva Swabhimani Paksha on 1 seat.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its third list of candidates for 36 Lok Sabha constituencies for the upcoming general elections 2019. Among prominent names that feature in the list for the states of Maharashtra, Assam Andhra Pradesh and Odisha include party's national spokesperson Sambit Patra who will be contesting from Puri in Odisha, Girish Bapat- Pune, Dilip Kumar Kilaru - Vijaywada, Bharati Pawar- Dindori.
Earlier on Friday, the Congress party also announced a list of 35 candidates. Among the notable announcements was the candidature of Raj Babbar who will contest from Fatehpur Sikri instead of earlier announced Moradabad. The Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are likely to announce their seat-sharing pact for Maharashtra on Saturday.
