Background

Patan: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Liladharbhai Khodaji Vaghela from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 138719 votes. The polling / voting in Patan constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Bharatsinhji Dabhi and Congress Party#s Jagdish thakor

Patan 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 26 out of the 26 parliamentary seat with 60.11 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 33.45 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 58.69% Lok Sabha percent with 62.58% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 54.48% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 12061 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 14 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Patan, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Liladharbhai Khodaji Vaghela of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Rathod Bhavsinhbhai Dahyabhai by a margin of 138719 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 23624 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Kanodia Maheshkumar Mithabhai attained 273970 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Rastrapal Pravin Somabhai bagged 250346 votes
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 17127 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Rashtrapal Pravinchandra Somabhai attained 246798 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Kanodia Maheshkumar Mithabhai bagged 229671 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated AIRJP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Kanodiya Maheshkumar Mithabhai attained 293800 votes and AIRJP's Chavda Mahendrakumar Khemchandbhai bagged 164281 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 88823 votes BJP candidate Maheshkumar Mithabhai Kanodia had got 180761 while INC got Leuva Poonamchand Mohanlal votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated JD(G) candidate with a difference of 44509 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Mahesh Kanodiya attained 204115 votes and JD(G) candidate Parmar Narendrakumar Muljibhai bagged 159606 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Chawada Khem Chandbhai Somabhai attained 346562 votes and INC's Yogendra Makwana bagged 133508 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and JNP here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his JNP counterpart with a difference of 6787 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and JNP here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his JNP counterpart with a difference of 2754 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 73566 votes BLD candidate Chavda Khemchandbhai Somabhai had got 182973 while INC got Vanakar Punamchandbhai Mithabhai votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, NCO candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 53482 votes NCO candidate Khemchanbhai Somabhai Chavda had got 138470 while INC got Dahyabhai Ramjibhai Parmar votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 15001 votes. Here, SWA leader D.R. Parmar attained 140754 votes and INC candidate S.R. Solanki bagged 125753 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SWA candidate by a margin of 68013 votes INC candidate Purushottamdas Ranchhoddas Patel had got 125797 while SWA got Kantiprasad Jayshanker Yagnik votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 41344 votes. Here, Independent leader Thakore Motisinh Bahadursinh attained 131802 votes and INC candidate Trivedi Vijaykumar Madhavlal bagged 90458 votes
