Background

Kannauj: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Dimple Yadav from Samajwadi Party (SP) won the elections by a margin of 19907 votes. The polling / voting in Kannauj constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 4 on 29 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Subrat Pathak and Samajwadi Party#s Dimple Yadav

Kannauj 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Kannauj Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 61.61% Lok Sabha percent with 62.98% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 59.92% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 7380 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 12 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Kannauj, 10 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Dimple Yadav of the Samajwadi Party as he defeated Subrat Pathak by a margin of 19907 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate defated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, SP candidate Akhilesh Yadav attained 464367 votes and BSP's Th. Rajesh Singh bagged 156994 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate had defeated ABLTC candidate by a margin of 79139 votes SP candidate Mulayam Singh Yadav had got 291617 while ABLTC got Arvind Pratap Singh votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 42504 votes. Here, Samajwadi Party leader Pradeep Kumar Yadav attained 294065 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Chandrabhoo Shan Singh (Munnu Babu) bagged 251561 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Samajwadi Party candidate by a margin of 54880 votes BJP candidate Chandra Bhusan Singh Alias Munoo Baboo had got 219039 while SP got Chhotey Singh Yadav votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JP candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 61175 votes JP candidate Chhote Singh Yadav had got 172594 while BJP got T.N. Chaturvedi votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 53833 votes JD candidate Chhotey Singh Yadav had got 220840 while INC got Sheela Dixit votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated LKD candidate by a margin of 61815 votes INC candidate Sheila Dixit had got 199621 while LKD got Chhotey Singh Yadav votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, JNP(S) candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 39137 votes. Here, JNP(S) leader Chhotey Singh Yadav attained 147901 votes and JNP candidate Ram Prakash Tripathi bagged 108764 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Ram Prakash Tripathi attained 287612 votes and INC's Balram Singh Yadav bagged 116570 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated BJS candidate with a difference of 43115 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader S. N. Misra attained 103988 votes and BJS candidate Ram Prakash Tripathi bagged 60873 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between SSP and INC; here SSP candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 472 votes.
