The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the UGC NET December 2024 exam registration window. Interested candidates who are yet to apply can fill the application form through the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Applicants must ensure that all details, including their email address and mobile number, are accurately filled out in the application form, as these will be used for all exam-related communications.
The UGC NET December 2024 exam is scheduled to take place from January 1 to January 19, 2025, in computer-based test (CBT) mode across 85 subjects.
As per the NTA's eligibility criteria, candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in their master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university. For reserved category candidates, the minimum required marks are 50%.
The exam covers subjects such as humanities (including languages), social sciences, computer science and applications, and electronic science.

Step 1: Visit the official UGC NET website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
Step 2: On the homepage, navigate to the 'UGC NET December 2024 Online Application' Link.
Step 3: Now, register yourself by entering your email ID and phone number.
Step 4: Once registered, complete your application form.
Step 5: Enter the required information.
Step 6: After that, upload the necessary documents and pay the required fee.
Step 7: Click on 'Submit'.
Step 8: Download the confirmation page for your future reference.

Notably, the UGC-NET is a qualifying examination for Indian nationals aspiring to pursue academic and research opportunities. It serves as a gateway for the following:
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Appointment as Assistant Professor
- Appointment as Assistant Professor and Admission to Ph.D.
- Admission to Ph.D. only
Candidates qualifying under the ‘Appointment as Assistant Professor and Admission to Ph.D.’ category are eligible for both Assistant Professor roles and Ph.D. admissions. However, they will not be awarded the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
Those who qualify under the ‘Admission to Ph.D. only’ category will be eligible solely for Ph.D. admission. They will not be eligible for JRF or Assistant Professor appointments.
