UGC NET 2024: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has written to the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to reopen the online application portal for UGC-NET (June 2024). The ABVP highlighted that many students couldn't apply for the exam due to various reasons. Since UGC-NET scores are important for getting into PhD programmes at many universities, reopening the application portal would give these students another chance to apply and continue their studies.
The UGC NET exam scheduled for June 18, 2024, was cancelled because of concerns over a possible paper leak. It has been rescheduled to take place between August 21 and September 4, 2024. The ABVP mentioned in its letter that many students didn't know that PhD admissions at many universities would be based on UGC-NET scores this year. Therefore, they believe it makes sense to reopen the online application portal.
ABVP national general secretary Yagywalkya Shukla stated, "Reopening the online application portal will provide an opportunity to the students who were left out and couldn't apply before. The UGC-NET should be held as scheduled and the results should be announced in mission mode so that the admission procedure for PhD programmes in various universities takes place as scheduled."
