The Bihar Education Department has released the holiday calendar for the academic year 2024. The Education Department has announced changes in the 2024 holiday calendar to adhere to the mandated 220 teaching days outlined in the Right To Education Act (RTE). From this year, summer vacations will now be solely for students, while teachers will engage in conducting parent-teacher meetings, special classes, and exams during this period.
The updated calendar has extended summer vacations from 20 to 30 days. Additionally, holidays for Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha (Bakrid) have been expanded to three days each, resulting in the exclusion of holidays like Hartalika Teej and Jitiya. Several significant Hindu festivals like Makar Sankranti, Rakshabandhan, Saraswati Puja, Janmashtami, Ram Navami, Bhaidooj and Shivratri have been excluded from the holiday calendar.
