Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) Mumbai, established to develop an industry-ready workforce through advanced technology and hands-on training. Set up under a Public-Private Partnership between the Tata Education and Development Trust and the Government of India, IIS Mumbai is located on a 4-acre campus at the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) in Chunabhatti.
The institute offers specialised training in fields like factory automation, digital manufacturing, mechatronics, AI, data analytics, and additive manufacturing. Initially, six courses, including advanced industrial automation, robotics, and EV battery specialization, will be introduced, with plans to offer hostel facilities for students soon.
“Institutions like IIS are pivotal in shaping a future-ready workforce, translating the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of India as the ‘Skill Capital of the World’ into a reality. By equipping our youth with cutting-edge expertise, this institute is not merely opening doors to opportunities within India but is positioning them to compete and excel in global markets as well,” said Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State, Ministry of Education, Govt of India.
