Noida: Schools To Remain Closed Tomorrow Following Heavy Rainfall Alert From IMD

Following a heavy rainfall alert from the IMD and increased water levels of the Yamuna River, the district administration has directed all schools till Class 12 in Noida to be closed tomorrow.

Schools in Noida will remain closed tomorrow following a severe rainfall alert from IMD. The district school examiner's office Gautam Buddha Nagar district released a circular today, July 13, directing all schools in the district to be closed on Friday, July 14. The move from the district administration comes as a precautionary move following a heavy rainfall alert from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). "Owing to the increased water levels in the Yamuna River due to incessant rains, and the probability of further rains, the district officer hereby directs all schools till Class 12 to be closed tomorrow, July 14," reads the circular form the district school examiner's office, Gautam Buddha Nagar district. 

Severe monsoon rains have been lashing out on the Delhi-NCR region in the past few days unleashing chaos and stalling everyday lifestyle of people at various places. The national capital Delhi has been grappling hard with the monsoon fury with water-logging on several roads, streets and residential areas. The rising water levels of the Yamuna river have crossed the danger mark now and the overflowing river has also started entering low-lying areas of the national capital, furthering woes of the local people and the state government.

With the harsh weather unleashing chaos in the region, local administrations have been swift in rolling out precautionary measures for school going children, forcing closure of schools in various parts of Delhi-NCR. Earlier today, the Directorate of Education (DTE), Govt of Delhi, issued a safety advisory for schools in Delhi, and also directed schools in low-lying areas where the overflowing waters of the Yamuna river are likely to penetrate, to remain closed with immediate effect. Later in the evening today, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi came up with a similar order directing closure of all schools under its administration till July 16.
