New Delhi: The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will turn the nation into a "global knowledge superpower." The minister made the statement while addressing a virtual conference of the 61st Foundation Day of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.


"NCERT should gear up for bringing in a massive transformation in education as envisaged in the NEP 2020. The New Education Policy 2020 will turn India into a global knowledge superpower," Pradhan was quoted by PTI in its report.


Along with the education minister, Subhash Sarkar, Minister of State of Education, Raj Kumar Ranjan Singh, Minister for State for Education and senior officials of the ministry and NCERT also attended the conference. While calling out the attention towards the importance of the NCERT logo featuring three swans, and its motto of "life eternal through learning," Subhash Sarkar accentuate the role of the organisation as the resource centre of research, development and training.


Raj Kumar Ranjan Singh in his address said that the occasion is to rejoice in the past, introspect the present, and plan for the upcoming future.


A dictionary of sociology in three languages including English, Urdu, and Hindi was also released during the virtual conference of the 61st Foundation Day of the council. The dictionary was published by the NCERT.
