New Delhi: Delhi Police reported on Thursday that a case has been registered against NSUI workers following their intrusion into the NTA office during a protest against the NEET issue. The case has been filed under multiple sections of the IPC, including 186, 353, 452, 342, and 34.

This action follows a protest by members of the Congress' National Students' Union of India (NSUI) at the National Testing Agency (NTA) office on Thursday, demonstrating against recent "irregularities" in NEET-UG 2024.

Speaking to ANI, Varun Choudhary, National President of NSUI, said, "We are continuously demanding from the government that NTA should be banned. Students now do not believe in the examination being conducted by the NTA."

"Today we peacefully protested ...neither the BJP government is taking any action on this issue nor they are banning the NTA," he added.

The Opposition plans to challenge the government, despite the day being reserved for discussing the Motion of Thanks to the President's address to Parliament. If the matter arises today, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will address it, according to sources.

The leaders of the opposition said that if the NEET issue is not addressed for discussion on Friday, they would stage a protest inside the House.

On Tuesday, during her address to the joint sitting of Parliament, President Droupadi Murmu affirmed the government's commitment to investigating recent paper leaks and ensuring that those responsible are punished.

Amid the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a criminal case on Sunday to investigate alleged irregularities in the examination conducted by the NTA. The agency's FIR cites certain "isolated incidents" that occurred in a few states during the NEET (UG) 2024 examination, held on May 5, 2024. Two suspects, Manish Prakash and Ashutosh, were arrested from Patna by the CBI on Thursday.

Notably, the Ministry of Education constituted a high-level committee of experts to make recommendations on reforms in the mechanism of the examination process and the functioning of the NTA.
