Hazaribag: A CBI team on Wednesday visited a school in Jharkhand's Hazaribag and questioned its principal in connection with alleged irregularities in the NEET medical entrance exam, an official said. The team interrogated Dr. Ehsanul Haque, principal of Oasis School and the district coordinator of the NEET-UG exam in Hazaribag, for several hours. He was then taken to a guest house in Charhi, Hazaribag, where he and a few others were reportedly questioned until late evening, sources told news agency PTI.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Hazaribag Sadar, Kumar Shivashish, stated that they learned about the investigation from other sources but have not received any official communication.

Sources revealed that a 12-member CBI team arrived in Hazaribag on Tuesday evening. An eight-member team visited the school on Wednesday, while some members also went to the main branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in the district. The bank manager was reportedly the custodian of the question papers.

The bank had reportedly received the question papers sent by a courier service operator in an e-rickshaw, the sources said.

The CBI team members refused to divulge any details to the media, stating that they would submit their investigation report to their headquarters.

Dr. Haque, speaking to media persons on Tuesday, denied any tampering of question papers in Hazaribag and dismissed the allegations as baseless.

Earlier, on June 23, a three-member probe team from the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police visited the school to investigate the conduct of the test and the mechanism for opening the digital locks on question paper boxes.
