New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Aman Singh, an alleged co-conspirator in the NEET-UG paper leak case, from Dhanbad in Jharkhand, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying. According to the officials, the CBI developed intelligence on a Jharkhand-based module suspected to be involved in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, leading to Singh's arrest.
This marks the sixth arrest by the central agency in connection with the case.
Previously, the Central Bureau of Investigation had arrested the principal and vice principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, along with two individuals who allegedly provided safe premises for NEET candidates, where burnt question papers were later recovered by the Bihar Police.
The CBI has registered six FIRs related to the case. The FIR from Bihar pertains to the paper leak, while the remaining FIRs from Gujarat and Rajasthan involve impersonation of candidates and cheating.
The CBI's FIR, initiated from a reference by the Union Education Ministry, involves a "comprehensive investigation" into alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG medical entrance examination.

NEET-UG, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions.
This year's exam took place on May 5 at 4,750 centers across 571 cities, including 14 international locations, with nearly 24 lakh candidates participating.
A record-breaking 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720, including six from a single center in Haryana, raising suspicions of irregularities. Allegations surfaced that grace marks may have contributed to these top scores.

As a result, the number of candidates sharing the top rank in NEET-UG was revised down to 61 from 67, following the NTA's announcement of the updated results on July 1.
